Ps 76 - One A Week Psalm Project

One A Week Psalm Project Psalm 76 14.7.20 - 20.7.20 This was the week the masks became mandatory. This week I reflected on the significance of our production. Verse 4 is beautiful My prayer this week was ‘May I be listening’ . . . #oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsproject #artandspirituality #creativediscipline

Ps 75 - One A Week Psalm Project

One A Week Psalm Project Psalm 75 8.7.20 – 13.7.20 This was the week Melbourne went into stage 3 lockdown. So much has happened already since then. This was the last week I ‘travelled’ anywhere, and the infection rate here has reached what we hope will be the highest heights before now, thankfully, beginning to dip back down. I have continued to struggle to post what I have been writing. The format hasn’t felt as appropriate, but I did write this and list out numerous things

Ps 73 - One A Week Psalm Project

Ps 73 23.6.20-29.6.20 Art reflections I like the energy of the pastel drawings. They feel alive and feel like they flow and move. There is a real physical element pressing down and mixing the oil and the soft pastel. But even with this physicality, it feels like what the gestures end up portraying is actually a more enlivened and enthusiastic and energy filled image that what I actually feel. Like the drawings show more energy than I have. . . . #oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsp

Ps 72 - One a Week Psalm Project

Psalm 72 16.6.20 – 22.6.20 The last of the Psalms of or for David. These past few mornings have been a bit different, slower, less on my mind for some reason. I feel like I’m mostly just here. I think I’ve just been pretending that I am sitting and listening. I guess just being here is something. Ps 72:6 is such evocative imagery . . #oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsproject #artandspirituality #creativediscipline

Ps 70 - One A Week Psalm Project

One a Week Psalm Project Psalm 70 2.6.20 – 8.6.20 (for context - protests around the world join the pandemic of Covid19) It’s a short Psalm this week and it is beautiful. May this Psalm be our prayer for others who, at this time, do not have the time, headspace, capacity, knowledge of, time, to pray themselves. . . . #oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsproject #artandspirituality #creativediscipline

Ps 66 - One A Week Psalm Project

One A Week Psalm Project Psalm 66 5.5.20-11.5.20 I haven't posted Ps Project for a while. I've not felt like it’s something I wanted to do. I'm continuing with the project, just haven't been posting. I might just take a break from posting words and just stick with images for a while, I'm not exactly sure. In real life I'm up to Psalm 72 so I'm nearly 1/2 way thru! . .#oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsproject #artandspirituality #creativediscipline

Psalm 61 - One A Week Psalm Project

Psalm 61 31.3.20 -6.4.20 Psalm 61 feels really relevant to now. It is a psalm crying out. Prayers are heard from the ends of the earth. It is a cry from before. It is a cry for now. It is a cry moving forward. . . #oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsproject #artandspirituality #creativediscipline

Psalm 60 24.3.20 – 30.3.20 Consider that which we need to reduce, and that which we need to increase. Creative reflections The process of layering, drawing with pen, then pastel, oil and soft. How the colour changes the focus, the feel, and how it covers up, reveals and changes the whole direction.  The process of adding layer and the layer on top and seeing where it goes. - #oneaweekpsalmproject #1awkpsproject #artandspirituality #creativediscipline

Psalm 59 - One A Week Psalm Project

Reflection from 17th March – 23rd March, 2020 Psalm 59 This is a particularly descriptive Psalm. From the Concise Commentary on the Bible by Matthew Henry “It is our wisdom and duty, in times of danger and difficulty, to wait upon God; for he is our defense, in whom we shall be safe.” 59:9 O my Strength, I watch for you; you O God, are my fortress, my loving God. 59:17 O my Strength, I sing praise to you, you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God. Psalm 58 - One A Week Psalm Project

Reflection from10th March – 16th March, 2020 Psalm 58 I wonder how much we miss by reading the scriptures in our heads – or even by the dainty oral readings often done in church. I wonder what the Psalms would sound like narrated by someone like John Cleese, like his enthusiastic read of The Screwtape Letters. This Psalm is full of imagery and changes who it is speaking to a few times. It feels more like a Shakespearean soliloquy more than anything else. This Psalm is for tho

Psalm 55 - One A Week Psalm Project

There are times when I cannot settle. I sit here but I am distracted. Rather than focusing on what I wish to do, or even rather than simply enjoying the morning sights and sounds, my mind flits from one thing to another. It has to do with tiredness. Tiredness is inextricably linked with an overwhelming and undetectable desire for easy distraction. - A journey of faith is a desire to seek holiness. It must be an involved life. Something we must decide upon. Something we must a
