Stella Adler was an amazing actor and teacher who grew up performing and she obviously witnessed, and was a part of, some wonderful displays of art and creativity. She married one of the co-founders of the Group Theatre which is said to have ‘believed in a theatre that would probe the depths of the soul’.
Even though she was only part of this group for a time, this idea obviously stayed with her. Years later is she quoted as saying ‘You act with your soul. That’s why you all want to be actors, because your souls are not used up by life.’
Art and self intertwined at our very depths.
